Varje blad inspekteras, oljas in och packas diskret — kartongen avslöjar aldrig att det finns ett svärd inuti.

Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, fights with a stillness that reads as restraint — and his blade has the same quiet authority. This hand-forged Giyu Tomioka katana is the higher-end take on his sword in our range: a genuinely functional blade made for fans who want to cut, not just collect.

Forging & Steel

The 72 cm blade is hand-forged from high-quality 1060 carbon steel, the proven choice for a working anime katana — hard enough to take a real edge, resilient enough to forgive a learning curve. It is polished by hand and set on a full-tang core, making it functional for tameshigiri or display. Two bamboo mekugi pin the tang for full disassembly.

Mounts & Fittings

A sculpted iron tsuba sets the balance, carved iron menuki sit under the synthetic-shagreen wrap, and the light lacquered wood saya keeps the sword nimble and clean — Giyu’s signature half-and-half look reading instantly on a stand.

Care & Maintenance

A high-carbon blade like this rewards a little upkeep. Because 1060 steel is reactive, wipe the blade down after every handling session and lay on a thin film of light mineral or camellia oil before it slides back into the saya, which stops surface rust from ever taking hold. Knock out the two bamboo mekugi when you want to strip the sword for a deeper clean, and store it edge-up on a stand so the lacquered scabbard never bears the weight of the blade. Treated this way, it stays keen, bright and display-ready for years.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. It is explicitly functional for tameshigiri (tatami cutting) as well as display — a true full-tang carbon-steel blade. Browse the rest of our anime katana range, including the Sanemi Shinazugawa katana and the Tanjiro katana.
