Ōkami (狼) is the wolf — the lone hunter Japanese tradition holds as guardian and as the embodiment of a fierce, disciplined spirit. This mid-range katana is forged to carry that spirit: a hand-folded blade meant for the practitioner who hunts precision in every cut.

Forging & Steel

The Ōkami is hand-forged from refined T10 tool steel and folded to homogenize the high-carbon stock and tighten its grain. Selective clay tempering then hardens the edge while keeping the spine soft, producing a genuine hamon and the balance of flexibility and hardness a real cutter needs — strength to absorb impact, edge retention to keep its bite through training. Folding the steel evens out the carbon through the bar, and the clay line laid before the quench is what sets the hamon you see along the edge. A light film of oil after each session keeps the bare blade bright, and the forward balance suits committed cutting drills.

Fittings & Mounts

A finely carved copper tsuba anchors the mount. The saya is lacquered wood bearing the crest of the Toyotomi clan, and the tsuka is wrapped in genuine white galuchat (ray skin) for a secure, historic grip.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The folded, clay-tempered T10 blade is sharpened and full-tang, built for both the history enthusiast and the martial artist working tatami. The Toyotomi crest on the saya and the white ray-skin wrap give it a documented, period feel that suits collectors as much as cutters, and the 71 cm blade keeps the handling quick. Compare it with the mid-tier T10 Katana Chikara and the cross-folded Katana Yonaguni in the full katana collection.
