Varje blad inspekteras, oljas in och packas diskret — kartongen avslöjar aldrig att det finns ett svärd inuti.

Nihon — Japan, the name of the country itself — and the sword is a tribute to that spirit. Everything on it leans into Japanese aesthetics: the deep black lacquer of the scabbard hand-painted with traditional motifs, the iron-dark fittings, and a flame rising along the edge of the blade. It is built for collectors who value the history and the art behind the steel.

Forging & Steel

The blade is premium high-carbon T10 tool steel, clay-tempered to raise a flame-shaped hamon — the hardening line licking up from the edge like fire. The differential temper leaves a hard, keen edge over a tougher body for precise, effective cutting. A flame hamon is among the more dramatic patterns a smith can coax from the clay, tongues of hardened steel climbing the blade like fire from the edge. It ships sharpened.

Fittings

The tsuba is copper sculpted against black iron, giving robust hand protection and symbolic detail. The saya is deeply black-lacquered wood, hand-painted with Japanese motifs, and the tsuka is wrapped in genuine white shagreen with an iron menuki kit and two bamboo mekugi for strength and integrity. The iron-dark fittings and deep lacquer keep the palette sombre and traditional, so the flame on the blade is the one bright note in an otherwise restrained sword.

Is it battle-ready?

Yes. The Nihon is a sharpened, full-tang T10 cutting blade rated for genuine tatami work. It sits among our master-tier katana beside T10 pieces like the Pikokku and the Ryuza.
